Author Megumi Iwasa and illustrator Jun Takabatake are coming all the way from Japan to Stafford Gatehouse Theatre to celebrate the publication of their wonderful book Yours Sincerely, Giraffe, a warm and funny story of a giraffe who is fed up with his boring everyday existence and so sends a letter over the horizon and forms an unlikely friendship with his new pen pal, a penguin!
Joining them on stage is translator and interpreter Cathy Hirano who translated this book into English. The trio will discuss the story, where the idea came from, how they worked together to combine the text and the illustrations and the process of translating the original Japanese into English. With readings from the book and the chance to watch Jun draw live on stage this event promises to give a fascinating insight into the life and work of an author, an illustrator and a translator.
